In an exclusive interview with Mayor Johnielle Keith Nieto, he revealed that he was angry over the uploaded viral video showing an elderly woman refilling water into plastic bottles.
“When I reviewed it, wala man lang kahit anong basehan to say na ibinibenta niya yung mismong mineral water at wala namang refilling machine to indicate na ia-attempt niya to make it authentic” Mayor Nieto told BITAG.
The elderly woman was identified as Ms. Bebita Manigos.
Manigos, 70 years old is a mineral water vendor in Cainta that came to the public service program of BITAG after she went viral and was accused of allegedly refilling mineral water.
Manigos was in tears and emotional during his interview with BITAG.
The uploader Virmil Talattad was apologetic to the elderly woman as she was the center of shame after the video went viral.
As Manigos is a constituent of Cainta, Mayor Nieto revealed to BITAG that he has consulted his legal office for possible charges against Talattad.
“Actually nagpa-ano ako sa legal office namin ngayon just to help her because she’s one of her constituents here, we might be filing a cyber libel against dun sa tao ng upload just to teach them a lesson” Mayor Nieto added.
According to Mayor Johnielle Keith Nieto, as a symbol that the local government of Cainta is there to protect and help the oppressed elderly he will also give P5000 worth of mineral water, a cart and possible legal assistance.
Meanwhile, Nature Spring has released a statement regarding the issue.
