A single-mother from Calamba Laguna sought assistance from BITAG after she was complained by the school head and its faculty in an elementary school in Zamboanga Del Sur.

Both stressed and bothered, Christinayn Alforque, a former OFW shared how surprised she was when she was notified by her parents that she needs to face teachers and the school head of her Grade 1 daughter  after she was accused of defamation at Brgy. Lourmah Elementary School.

During the public service program of BITAG, Ben Tulfo interviewed Christinalyn. It was revealed that she was being complained about calling the 8888 Citizens’ Hotline of the government.

In a transcript shared by Cristinalyn to BITAG, the call to 8888 was made sometime last August.

Cristinalyn is currently away from her daughter, she is working in Laguna while her Grade 1 daughter is with the guidance of her parents in Zamboanga Del Sur.

According to Christinalyn, she was informed by her parents that they have a balance of P896.00 in the elementary school that her daughter attends.

Surprised by this news, Christinalyn called and inquired at the 8888 Citizens’ Hotline to get clarification.

This call was immediately endorsed to the Region Director of the Department of Education in Zamboanga Del Sur.

According to Christinalyn this was the reason why she is now facing a defamation complaint from the school head and teacher of her Grade 1 daughter.

She explained to BITAG, that the balance of P896 was a penalty for being non-attendance at a certain school event in the involved school.

During the public service program, Ben Tulfo reached out to the school head to get clarification and answers regarding the complaint but BITAG did not get any response from the school.

The involved barangay, on the other hand, was not cooperative with BITAG.

This prompt BITAG to call the attention of the Department of Education in Manila

During an off the air phone patch interview, Ben Tulfo talked to the spokesperson of DepEd, Atty. Michael Poa .

Atty. Poa promised to investigate the matter and will also talk to the involved mother who seeked help from BITAG.

As per Initial details shared by Atty. Poa to Mr. Ben Tulfo, the spokesperson reiterated that there are existing DepEd orders that implement “NO COLLECTION POLICY” in public schools in the country.

THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY.
