The investigation of BITAG on the 16-year old minor that swallowed money on the instruction of a barangay chairman in Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya continues.
During the 2nd interview of Mr. Ben Tulfo to the father of the 16-year old minor, the father was able to share a detailed report on the day that he found out that his son swallowed money.
Apart from the 16-year old victim, BITAG found out that this is not the first time the chairman used his position to solve barangay matters among his constituents.
Razel Sobrepeña, a resident of Brgy. Mabuslo, Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya also shared to BITAG that he is also a victim of the abusive approach of the chairman.
According Mr. Sobrepeña, he was made to swallow raw chicken after being accused of stealing a native chicken.
Displeased by this horrifying complaints, Mr. Ben Tulfo immediately called the attention of the Mayor of Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya.
Mayor Benjamin ‘Jaime’ Cuaresma III confirmed that their office received the complaints against the barangay chairman.
Upon receiving the complaint his office through a meeting called the attention of their Municipal Social Worker Development Office, and authorities from Bambang Police Station, their local DILG and their ABC Barangay Captain.
“During the meeting Sir Ben, nagkwento yung ama kung ano ang nangyari. Nung narinig ko, nalungkot ako at syempre nagalit na rin kasi minor, immediately ipinatawag ko ang vice mayor at yung head ng legal at chairman ng Sangguniang Bayan for immediate action on the administrative case”
Mayor Benjamin ‘Jaime’ Cuaresma III said.
The Mayor said that while the matter is already with the Sangguniang Bayan, a child abuse case has been filed against the chairman.
Mr. Ben Tulfo appreciated all efforts done by the local government of Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya but reasoned that it was not enough.
“Salamat po at ipinatawag ninyo ang inyong Vice Mayor, na namumuno sa Sangguniang Bayan, kami po ay nanawagan for the immediate preventive suspension nitong si Kap. Rolando Hernandez through the Sangguniang Bayan para po hindi makapang-abuso”
Ben Tulfo explained.
“Ang kanyang style, instilling fear, hindi tayo namumuno para dalhin sa takot bagkus pagsilbihan ang taumbayan. Sa halip na gumanap bilang ama ng barangay, naging terror ng barangay” he added.
“I call for the immediate preventive suspension sa pamamagitan ng Sangguniang Bayan. Habang nakaupo ‘yan, he can still use the posisition to terrorize the people” Tulfo said.
The mayor agreed on this and added that upon consultation with their local DILG, the Sangguniang Bayan has 120 days to resolve and come up with a proper decision.
