The Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced yesterday, Nov. 15, that free rides on the EDSA Bus Carousel will be operational 24 hours a day starting December 1, 2022.
In a statement, the DOTr said the extended operation of the Libreng Sakay program will run from Dec. 1 until Dec. 31.
The DOTr added another two weeks of free ride service, compared to the prior schedule of implementation that was supposed to be slated from Dec. 15 to 31.
DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista directed the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to implement the new directive.
“The LTFRB will soon issue a resolution to make it a formal directive to bus operators who are part of the service contracting program,” the DOTr said.
