Nasabat ng mga tauhan ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) ang humigit-kumulang 24 kilo ng alahas sa banyo ng eroplano ng Philippine Airlines (PAL).
Sa press statement ng PAL, nadiskubre nila ang tila nabaklas na dingding ng banyo ng isa nilang aircraft kaya agad nila itong ipinagbigay-alam sa Philippine National Police – Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP).
Nadiskubre ang kontrabando sa lavatory ng PAL flight PR 301 nang lumapag ito sa NAIA, Huwebes ng gabi mula Hong Kong.
Sa pagtaya ng mga otoridad, aabot sa P80 million ang value ng mga nasabat na alahas.
Ayon kay BOC NAIA District Collector Carmelita M. Talusan, isasailalim nila sa masusing imbestigasyon ang mga personalidad na may kinalaman sa biyahe ng PAL.
Ipinag-utos na rin ng pamunuan ng PAL ang masusing imbestigasyon kung paano naisingit sa banyo ng kanilang aircraft ang mga kontrabando.
“PAL continues to cooperate with the PNP and the BOC to ensure an orderly and thorough probe. Rest assured, the investigation is underway to ferret out the truth behind this incident,” ayon sa press statement ng airlines.
