Nalagay sa ‘hot seat’ ang star player ng Brooklyn Nets matapos magkomento sa kanyang twitter patungkol sa mga Hebrews.
Ayon sa ulat ng Agence-France-Presse (AFP), nakapanayam ng SportsNet New York (SNY) si Irving at nag-abot na raw ito ng kanyang ‘sincere apology’.
Ipinaliwanag din umano ni Irving na wala siyang intensyon na kontrahin ang paniniwala ng mga Jewish sa kanyang twitter post tungkol sa 2018 film na “Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America”.
Pinutakte ng bash at panunuya sa social media si Irving dahil malinaw umanong pag-atake sa mga Hebrews ang kanyang komento na tinawag ng netizens na “anti-semitic”.
Dahil sa kontrobersyal na Twitter post, sinuspinde ng management ng National Basketball Association (NBA) si Irving.
Kinansela rin ng Nike apparel ang pagiging endorser ni Irving sa kanilang mga produkto.
Hindi rin itinuloy ang paglabas ng NIKE ‘Kyrie8’ kung saan si Irving sana ang model-endorser.
“I just want to apologize deeply for all my actions for the time that it has been since the post was first put up,” pahayag ni Irving exclusive interview ng SNY.
“I know I could have handled that better. I did not mean to send any hurt or threats or impact or harm to the Jewish community,” dagdag pa ng NBA star player.
