Maagang magpapatupad ng full heightened alert ang Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) upang bantayan ang mga pier, seaports, pantalan at mga lugar na dadagsain ng mga biyaherong magbabakasyon ngayong Kapaskuhan.
Ayon kay PCG Commandant, Admiral Artemio Abu, nasa 25,000 coast guard personnel ang naatasang magbantay sa mga Pier.
Layon aniya nito na siguruhing magiging maayos at ligtas ang biyahe ng mga tripulante na magsisi-uwian sa mga probinsya.
Sa pagtaya ng PCG, posibleng mag-umpisa ang dagsa ng mga tripulante sa susunod na linggo, pero inaasahang mas siksikan sa mga pier pagsapit ng December 15 hanggang December 23 dahil sa mga uuwi ng Pasko.
Babalik ulit ang dagsa ng mga biyahero pagsapit naman ng Dec. 28 hanggang Dec. 30 para sa mga maghahabol naman ng Bagong Taon.
Kadalasan din umanong siksikan ang mga pantalan pagsapit ng January 2 hanggang 5 para naman sa mga manggagawang magbabalik-trabaho pagkatapos ng mahabang holiday break.
“Ngayong magpapasko, very busy ang mga kababayan natin traveling using sea transportation system. Nandiyan ang Coast Guard. We’ll put our Coast Guard personnel in heightened alert status,” wika ni Abu.
Samantala, pinaalalahanan ni Abu ang mga shipowners na tiyaking maayos at ligtas ang kanilang mga barko upang maiwasan ang aberya sa paglalayag.
