Limang malalaking mall sa Metro Manila ang ginawang “registration anywhere” site ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) para sa pagpapatuloy ng voter’s registration simula December 17, 2022 hanggang January 25, 2023.
Ang “register anywhere” campaign ng Comelec ay layong ilapit sa publiko ang pagpapatala para sa Barangay at SK elections sa susunod na taon at sa nakatakdang midterm elections sa 2025.
Sa isang TV interview kay Comelec spokesperson Atty. Rex Laudiangco, inanunsyo nito ang limang malls na gagawing registration site ng poll commission. Ito ang Mall of Asia sa Pasay City, SM Fairview sa Quezon City, SM Southmall, Robinsons Galleria, at Robinsons Place Manila.
Ayon kay Laudiangco, hindi ordinaryong registration satellite ang limang malls na ito dahil maaaring magparehistro ang sinumang gustong magpatala kahit sa ibang lugar sila residente.
“Kahit hindi po kayo nakatira sa Metro Manila. Gusto niyo pa rin bumoto doon sa munisipyo ninyo, halimbawa Tuguegarao o taga-Cavite at nagkataon nandito kayo sa mga malls na ito, pwede po kayo pumunta sa register anywhere booth,” ani Laudiangco.
Sinabi pa ng tagapagsalita ng Comelec na may naka-standby na thumbprints at biometrics sa mga “register anywhere booth” at ipapadala na lamang ito sa munisipyo o city hall na nakakasakop sa botante.
“Hindi na kailangan pumunta pa sa mga probinsya n’yo. Sa mga nagtatrabaho dito (sa Metro Manila) at gusto n’yo dun sa inyo bumoto, pwede kayong magparehistro dyan sa register anywhere booth,” paliwanag ng opisyal.
