Nangangamba ang Department of Health (DOH) na lalo pang tumaas ang kaso ng “hand, foot and mouth disease” sa bansa kung saan pumalo na rin sa 155 ang tinamaan nito sa Metro Manila.
Sa ipinatawag na press conference ngayong Martes, Dec. 6, ni DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire, inihayag nito ang pagdami ng kaso ng HFMD.
Sa kabila nito, nilinaw ng health official na hindi pa maikokonsiderang “outbreak” ang paglobo ng kaso ng HFMD sa Metro Manila.
Ang naitalang kaso ng FMHD sa Kamaynilaan ay datos mula October hanggang December 6.
Bukod sa Metro Manila, nakapagtala rin ng 1,008 kaso ng HFMD sa Batangas at 541 cases sa Albay, ayon sa isang ulat.
Sa datos na hawak ng DOH, karamihan sa mga nahawa ng HFMD ay mga bata edad 11 pababa.
“Nangyari po ito (infection ng HFMD) over the span of two to three months. Pero wala po tayong outbreak para sa hand, foot and mouth disease,” ani Vergeire.
Ayon sa medical research, ang HFMD ay isang nakakahawang viral infection na madalas maipasa sa mga paslit.
Kadalasang sintomas ng sakit na ito ang pagkakaroon ng biglaang lagnat, pananakit ng lalamunan, pangangati ng kamay at mga paa, at skin rashes o pamumula ng balat.
Babala ng DOH, ang pagkakaroon ng HFMD ay maaaring mauwi sa kamatayan kung hindi ito maagapan.
