Sa Laging Handa Public Briefing, ibinabala ni Infectious Disease Expert Dr. Rontgene Solante na hanggat nananatili ang kahirapan ay mananatili ang pakikipagbuno ng mga tao sa sakit na TB.
Isa ang sakit na TB sa matagal nang suliranin ng maraming Filipino, lalo pa’t kasama ang Pilipinas sa mga bansang may pinakamaraming TB cases sa buong mundo.
Paliwanag ni Solante, mas mabilis kumalat ang sakit na ito kung matindi ang kahirapan dahil sa dikit-dikit at maruming komunidad.
Hangga’t hindi aniya natutugunan ang kahirapan, malabong masolusyonan ang pagdami ng TB cases sa bansa.
Base sa datos ni Solante, nasa Top 5 ang Pilipinas sa mga bansang multi-drug resistant sa tuberculosis dahil marami sa mga Filipino ang hindi tinatapos ang anim na buwang gamutan.
