Kumpiyansa si Department of Social Welfare Secretary Erwin Tulfo na ire-reappoint siya ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa susunod na taon, matapos ma-bypass sa pangalawang pagkakataon ng maimpluwensyang Commission on Appointments (CA).
Sa pahayag ni Tulfo sa GMA news, sinabi nito na inutusan siya ng Pangulo na ituloy-tuloy lang ang trabaho sa Department of Social Welfare Development (DSWD) partikular sa mga disaster response at rescue operations sa mga Badjao.
“Last instruction niya (PBBM) sa akin, continue doing what I’m supposed to do. ‘Yung sa disaster at ongoing rescue sa mga Badjao street children natin,” ani Tulfo.
Magbabakasyon na ang Kongreso simula bukas, Disyembre 14 at muli itong magbubukas sa Enero.
Sa kabila nito, mananatiling ad interim secretary si Tulfo sa DSWD at kailangan lamang nitong makakuha ng re-appointment mula sa Pangulo.
Samantala, nagpahayag ng panghihinayang ang chairman ng CA na si Senate President Juan Miguel ‘Migz’ Zubiri dahil sa hindi pagkaka-kumpirma ni Tulfo bago ang Christmas break ng Kongreso.
Ayon kay Zubiri, maayos ang performance ni Tulfo sa DSWD at nakapanghihinayang kung hindi ito makumpirma sa CA.
Kinumpirma rin ni Zubiri na natanggap na nila ang desisyon ng Korte Suprema hinggil sa kaso nitong libel kung saan pinagmumulta lamang sa Korte Suprema ang kalihim.
Kailangan din umanong pag-aralan ng masusi ang mga isyu tungkol sa appointment ni Tulfo katulad ng citizenship issue at ang kaso nitong libel noong nasa propesyon pa ng pamamahayag.
“We are ready now. We are just waiting for another schedule. ‘Yung sinabi nilang case ko po tungkol sa moral turpitude, iba naman sa status ko. Hindi kasi ako elected, appointed ako. Isa-submit na lang namin. May docs kami, lawyers prepared for our position, kailangan lang din review-hin,” sagot naman ni Tulfo.
