Nakipag-ugnayan ang Department of Social Welfares and Development (DSWD) sa pamunuan ng Meta Platforms Inc. upang solusyonan ang pagbaha ng mga pekeng public solicitations sa social media partikular sa Facebook.
Ayon sa press release ng DSWD, kadalasang nagagamit ang kagawaran sa mga iligal at pekeng solicitation.
Giit ng DSWD, malaki ang maitutulong ng Meta Platforms Inc. na siyang may-ari ng social media platform na Facebook, para maiparating sa publiko ang kaalaman ukol sa pag-iisyu ng solicitation permit ng DSWD.
“It can be recalled that the issue on public solicitation has often been misunderstood and misinterpreted especially during times of calamities,” ayon sa pahayag ng DSWD.
Nilinaw ng kagawaran na pinapayagan sa ilalim ng Presidential Decree No. 1564 o ang Solicitation Permit Law ang pagtanggap ng public solicitations ng DSWD sa pamamagitan ng kanilang Standards Bureau.
Tanging ang Standards Bureau ng DSWD lamang umano ang may kapangyarihang mag-apruba ng solicitation permit sa sinumang indibidwal, korporasyon, grupo o organisasyon na gustong mangolekta o tumanggap ng contributions para sa public welfare purposes.
“The law was created with the sole aim of ensuring that solicited resources are received by intended recipients,” anang kagawaran.
Hinggil dito, nangako ang Facebook-Meta na magbibigay ng free trainings para paalalahanan ang mga subscriber ng Facebook hinggil sa valid at totoong public solicitations.
“With the goal to counter misinformation and fake news, the Department aims to continue its strengthened communication efforts by exploring partnerships with experts and engaging the public for feedback,” giit ng DSWD
