Kinilala ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ang kabayanihan ng isang netizen sa Zamboanga City matapos makapagligtas ng 11 mangingisda gamit ang social media na Facebook.
Ginawaran ng “netizen hero” award si Loriemin Diaz sa pangunguna ng PCG District Southwestern Mindanao.
Si Diaz ang nagpost sa Facebook hinggil sa paglubog ng sasakyang pandagat sa Mampang, Zamboanga City noong nakaraang buwan.
Naalerto ang mga tauhan ng PCG sa Facebook post ni Diaz tungkol sa pagtaob ng F/B Jaya-1 sa gitna ng laot bandang alas-10:20 ng gabi noong November 30.
Dahil sa Facebook post ni Diaz, nakarating ito sa mga tauhan ng PCG District Southern Mindanao at agad nagsagawa ng search and rescue operation.
Kwento ni Diaz, dalawang mangingisda ang napadpad malapit sa cottage na kanyang binabantayan para ipagbigay alam ang insidente.
Agad daw niya itong ipinost sa Facebook para humingi ng saklolo sa mga tauhan ng coast guard.
Mabilis na kumilos ang PCG katuwang ang Maritime Group ng Philippine National Police (PNP) at agad nasagip ang siyam na mangingisda habang palutang-lutang sa baybayin ng Mampang at Tictabon Island.
Ayon kay PCG District Southwestern Mindanao Commander, CG Commodore Marco Antonio Gines, dahil sa maagap at responsableng paggamit sa social media ni Diaz, mabilis silang naka-responde sa insidente.
“The social media responsibility shown by Ms. Diaz is a resemblance of a MODERN-DAY HERO that this generation must follow — a netizen who participates in public service by giving help to others and choosing to be part of the solution,” ani Gines.
