“I’m waiting for you…”
Ito ang tila paghahamon ng “Quadro Alas” ng Leyte na John Riel Casimero kay undisputed bantamweight champion na si Naoya Inoue matapos ang matagumpay na kampanya nito laban sa English boxer na si Paul Butler, kagabi, Dec. 13, sa Ariake Arena, Koto-ku, Japan.
Tinapos ni Inoue via technical knockout (TKO) ang defending champion na si Butler sa ika-11 round ng kanilang laban.
Sa social media post ni Casimero, nagpaabot ng pagbati ang Pinox boxer kay Inoue, pero may kaakibat itong paghahamon sa Japanese sensational boxer.
“Naoya Inoue, congrats. Undisputed kana pero na feel mo ba na ikaw ang pinakamalakas?” ani ni Casimero sa kanyang post.
“See you in super bantamweight Japanese monster I’m waiting for you,” dagdag nito.
Naging mainit si Casimero sa pakikipagtagpo kay Inoue matapos pataubin ng Japanese boxer ang dating kampeon na si Filipino Flash Nonito Donaire Jr. noong Hunyo.
Makakasagupa sana ni Casimero si Inoue noong April 25, 2020 para sa isang unification fight, pero hindi ito natuloy dahil sa restrictions ng COVID-19 pandemic.
Hindi rin natuloy ang laban ni Casimero kay Butler noong December 2021 para sana sa isang title defense match dahil diniskwalipika ang Pinoy boxer dahil sa paggamit ‘diumano ng “sauna” sa pagbabawas nito ng timbang bago ang laban.
Dahil dito, binawi ng WBO ang bantamweight tite ni Casimero noong Mayo.
Samantala, hawak ni Inoue ang apat na bantamweight title sa WBA, IBF, WBC at WBO.
Mayroon itong impresibong kartada na 24-0 (win-loss) record at 21 wins via TKO.
