Nakikipag-ugnayan na ang Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) sa mga local government units (LGUs) at mga concerned government agencies para marehistro ang mga indigenous people (IP) sa local civil registrar upang makasama sila sa listahan ng mga tatanggap ng ayuda sa pamahalaan.
Sa ulat ng state radio station na Radyo Pilipinas, sinabi ni DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo na sisikapin nilang mai-rehistro sa civil registrar ang nasa 30,000 katutubong Aeta sa Pampanga, Bataan, at Batanes.
Inanunsyo ito ni Tulfo sa kanyang pagdalo sa isang aktibidad sa Angeles City at Mabalacat, Pampanga kahapon, Dec. 14.
Oras na maitala ang mga IPs sa civil registrar, tiniyak ng DSWD na mapapasama ang mga katutubo sa regular na ayuda at iba pang social services program ng national government.
Pinangunahan ng kalihim ang pag-iikot sa mga lalawigan para tutukan ang pangangailangan ng mga IPs.
Layunin ng DSWD na tuldukan ang nakagisnang kultura ng mga katutubo na bumaba sa mga kanayunan upang mamalimos sa lansangan lalo na tuwing Kapaskuhan.
Namigay si Secretary Tulfo ng tig-P10,000 cash assistance sa ilang pamilya ng katutubo sa Pampanga para gamitin sa negosyo at pangkabuhayan.
Kinausap din ng DSWD ang mga local executive ng Pampanga at ilang opisyal ng National Commission of Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) para maisaayos ang mga primary channels o lagusan na dadaanan ng mga produktong ibibigay sa mga katutubong Aeta.
