The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) on Thursday, Dec. 15, warned of the new scheme of employment scams flooding the social media platform that victimized overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
In a statement, the OWWA National Capital Region (NCR) was alarmed over the spreading of fraudulent job offers on social media platforms such as Tiktok, Facebook, Twitter, and Telegram that ‘unvalidated’ jobs to aspiring OFWs.
The agency alerted the applicants not to fall for the fake entities offering a job for service representatives, data encoders, chat support staff, and call center agents in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand.
OWWA NCR Director Ma. Teresa B. Capa asked the OFWs to become critical and observant of their overseas applications.
Capa advised the OFWs to transact only with registered and highly reputable manning and overseas recruitment agencies.
Capa said aspiring OFWs should coordinate with OWWA if they need assistance with overseas applications.
The OWWA NCR accommodates calls and queries on overseas jobs through the OWWA Hotline: 1348, the OWWAofficial through Facebook, and the agency’s official website at www.owwa.gov.ph.
“Maging mapanuri at mapag-usisa sa bawat proseso sa pagtanggap ng trabaho sa ibang bansa. Dumaan lamang sa tamang proseso at dumulog sa mga Legal na Ahensya ng Gobyerno,” the statement read.
