Umabot sa 328 persons deprived of liberty (PDL) o inmate ng New Bilibid Prison (NBP) at Davao Prison and Penal Farm ang sabay-sabay binigyan ng release order ngayong araw, Dec. 19, ng Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).
Ang maramihang pagpapalaya ng mga preso ay alinsunod sa decongestion program ng Department of Justice (DOJ) para lumuwag ang pasilidad ng mga kulungan sa bansa.
Ayon sa BuCor, ang mga pinalayang PDLs ay mga inmates na natapos na ang sintensya.
Ang iba naman ay nabigyan ng executive clemency sa pamamagitan ng parole at ang iba ay mga presong may edad na, ayon sa BuCor.
Sa mga pinalayang PDLs, 129 ang nabigyan ng parole, 154 ang natapos na ang sintensya o nabigyan ng time allowance dahil sa magandang record sa kulungan, habang ang iba ay acquitted o pinawalang-sala ng hukuman.
