Bukod sa buwanang P1,000 social pension ng mga senior citizens, iminungkahi ng isang mambabatas sa Kamara na bigyan ng year-end bonus ang mga nakatatanda bilang Pamasko kada taon.
Sa inihaing House Bill 6693 o ang “Paskong Maligaya para kay Lolo’t Lola Bill” ni Quezon City 5th District Representative PM Vargas, iginiit nito na dapat magkaroon ng taunang bonus ang mga indigent senior citizens upang mabigyan ng kaunting ngiti ang mga Lolo at Lola bago sumapit ang Kapaskuhan.
Ayon kay Vargas, gaya ng tinatanggap na 13th-month pay ng mga manggagawa tuwing Disyembre, nais din niyang bigyan ng dagdag na isang buwan ang pension ng mga senior citizens.
Sakaling maging ganap na batas ang HB 6693, tatanggap ang mga senior citizens ng P1,000 cash bago sumapit ang December 25 kada taon.
Hiwalay ito sa tinatanggap na P1,000 ng mga seniors sa ilalim ng mandatory Social Pension for Indigent Seniors program.
Ibig sabihin, oras na maipasa ang panukala, tatanggap ng dalawang beses na P1,000 ang mga senior citizen pagsapit ng Disyembre.
Layon umano nitong bigyan ng kaunting saya ang mga Lolo at Lola tuwing Pasko.
“In the spirit of giving and sharing during the yuletide season, this measure seeks to grant senior citizen social pensioners with an annual year-end bonus,” ayon sa explanatory note ng panukala.
