Kinumpirma ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ang panibagong insidente ng pagbagsak ng rocket debris sa karagatan ng Zambales.
Sa ulat ng PCG kahapon, Dec. 18, ang nakitang debris o piraso ng rocket ay may sukat na dalawang metrong haba at apat na metrong lapad. Ang sukat na ito ay halos kasing laki ng isang kotse o sports utility vehicle (SUV).
Unang napansin ng mangingisdang si David Gervacio ang palutang-lutang na magkahalong metal at plastic fiber na “cylindrical object” sa layong 55 nautical miles kanluran ng Subic Bay.
Ipinaalam ito ni Gervacio sa Coast Guard Station Zambales at agad inahon ang rocket debris.
Sinabi ni Gervacio na may na-ispatan na rin siyang ganitong uri ng bagay na palutang-lutang sa dagat noong Nobyembre 16.
Ayon sa PCG, ang bumagsak na rocket debris ay posibleng galing sa sumabog na Long March 5b Rocket na pinalipad ng China noong Oktubre 31 mula sa Wenchang Space Launch Center sa Hainan province.
Ang naturang rocket expedition ay may laman na “research laboratory module” ng Tiangong Space Station para sa isang pag-aaral sa kalawakan.
“The Philippine Space Agency posted a public advisory on the same date to alert the public for possible falling debris within two (2) drop zones at (i) approximately 39 nautical miles from BdM and (ii) 21 nautical miles from Busuanga, Palawan,” ayon sa PCG.
