Nagbabala ang isang anti-toxic watchdog group laban sa panganib sa kalusugan ng paputok na “Giant Piccolo”.
Sa market monitoring ng grupo bago ang Pasko at salubong sa Bagong Taon, pumapalo ang presyo ng giant piccolo sa P200 kada pakete sa ilang tindahan sa Divisoria.
Ang giant piccolo ay halos limang beses na mas malaki kaysa sa ipinagbabawal na piccolo firecracker na sikat sa mga bata.
Ayon sa grupong BAN Toxics, lubhang mapanganib ang nauusong giant piccolo dahil bukod sa banta nito sa malakas na pagsabog, nagtataglay din umano ito ng toxic residue o mapanganib na kemikal.
Nanawagan si Thony Dizon, Toxics Campaigner ng grupong BAN Toxics sa Philippine National Police (PNP) at sa Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) na hulihin ang mga nagbebenta ng naturang paputok.
Tulad aniya ng matinding epekto ng piccolo noong mga nagdaang taon, mas malaki ang magiging problema kung papayagan ang pagkalat ng giant piccolo sa mga pamilihan.
“We appeal to all vendors to stop selling any prohibited firecrackers, especially to children. We need to protect our kids from any toxic pollution from firecrackers and fireworks and prevent injuries during the holiday season,” ayon sa grupo.
Maliban sa piccolo at giant piccolo, ipinagbabawal din ang pagbebenta ng watusi, five star, bawang, whistle bomb, giant bawang, pla-pla, belt ni hudas, super lolo, happy ball at iba pang malalakas na paputok.
