Nilagdaan kahapon, Dec. 20, ni Agriculture Senior Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban ang DA Memorandum Order No. 77 para i-convene ang Minimum Access Volume (MAV) Advisory Council.
Bilang acting Secretary ng DA, ipinag-utos ni Pangulong Marcos kay MAV Secretariat OIC, Executive Director Jocelyn Salvador na bilisan ang pag-angkat ng imported na asukal sa ibang bansa.
Nababahala ang Pangulo na baka lalong tumaas ang presyo ng asukal dahil sa patuloy na pagsirit ng inflation rate o taas-presyo ng mga pangunahing bilihin.
Sa pagsasaliksik ng news team ng BITAG Media Digital (BMD), napag-alaman na lalo pang bumulusok ang presyo ng asukal habang papalapit ang Kapaskuhan.
Batay sa Price Monitoring Report ng Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA), nasa P105 ang pinakamataas na presyo ng kada kilo ng refined na asukal sa Metro Manila.
Base ito sa December 2, 2022 monitoring ng SRA sa average at prevailing sugar prices sa Kalakhang Maynila.
