Wala pang balak magpatupad ng mas istriktong travel protocol ang Department of Health (DOH) para sa mga biyaherong galing China, ito ay sa kabila ng muling pagtaas ng kaso ng Covid-19 sa mga East Asian countries.
Sa ipinatawag na press conference ni DOH Officer-in-Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire, nilinaw nito na nakatutok ang pamahalaan sa mga kaganapan sa labas ng bansa lalo na usapin ng Covid spread.
Aniya, sa nakikita nilang trend wala pang dahilan para maghigpit sa mga pumapasok na turista sa Pilipinas.
“Not at this time yet.” Ito ang sagot ni Vergeire nang tanungin ng media kung dapat na bang magpatupad ng paghihigpit sa mga biyaherong galing ng China.
Ilang bansa na ang nagpatupad ng mandatory swab testing sa mga biyaherong galing ng China dahil sa takot na muling makalusot ang mga carrier ng Covid-19 sa kanilang teritoryo.
Ayon kay Vergeire, Masyado pang maaga para isarado ang border ng Pilipinas laban sa mga foreign nationals.
“The DOH doesn’t think that it is required or it is needed already that we close our borders or have these regulations or restrictions specific to China only because of what is happening in their country.”
Iginiit ng opisyal na mas maganda ang kondisyon ngayon ng Pilipinas kumpara sa nakaraang dalawang taon dahil marami na ang nabakunahan laban sa Covid-19.
Mas makakasama rin aniya sa ekonomiya ng Pilipinas kung “bukas-sara” ang border lalo’t nagsisimula pa lamang makabawi ang turismo at pananalapi ng bansa dahil sa epekto ng pandaigdigang pandemya.
