Batay sa Fireworks-Related Injury Surveillance ng DOH (as of Dec. 31), nasa 52 katao na ang biktima ng paputok.
Mas mataas ito ng 30% kumpara sa datos ng kagawaran noong nakaraang taon na nakapagtala lamang ng 40 cases sa parehong araw.

“Thirty-one injuries occurred at home, 20 occurred in the street, and one occurred in the farm. Five cases were allegedly intoxicated with alcohol at the time of injury. Six cases were hospitalized. No death was reported,” ayon sa DOH.
Karamihan sa mga nasabugan ng paputok ay sanhi ng paggamit ng ipinagbabawal na “boga” o improvised cannon na ginagamitan ng denatured alcohol. Sumunod ang five-star, super lolo, whistle bomb, at kwitis.
