Tiniyak ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. na ilalahad niya kay Chinese President Xi Jinping ang matagal ng sigalot sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at Tsina hinggil sa isyu ng agawan ng teritoryo sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Bago tumulak pa-China ang Pangulo ngayong araw, Jan. 3, inihayag nito sa media na isa tatalakayin sa pulong nila ni Xi ang pagresolba sa bilateral at regional issues ng Pilipinas at China.
Ayon sa Malakanyang, tatagal ng 48-hours o dalawang araw ang state visit ng Pangulo sa China.
“The issues between our two countries are problems that do not belong between two friends such as the Philippines and China. We will seek to resolve those issues to the mutual benefit of our two countries,” anang Pangulo.
Matatandaang naghain ng diplomatic protest ang Pilipinas laban sa China dahil sa isyu ng disposisyon sa mga bumagsak na debris ng Chinese rocket sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng bansa nitong mga nakaraang buwan.
“In undertaking this trip, I continue that legacy of strengthening the bonds of friendship established between the Filipino and Chinese peoples, and fostering bilateral ties to a higher plane of cooperation,” wika ng Pangulo.
