Umabot na sa 11.2 milyon ang nakapag-rehistro ng kanilang Subscriber Identity Module Card o SIM Card simula Disyembre 27, 2022 hanggang kahapon, Enero 2, 2023.
Base sa datos ng National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), unti-unti nang bumubuti ang server at sistema ng mga telephone companies (telcos) para ma-accommodate ang humigit kumulang 120 million mobile customers sa Pilipinas.
Mas malaki ang bilang ng mobile customers sa Pilipinas kumpara sa bilang ng tao dahil marami sa mga Pinoy ay gumagamit ng higit sa isang SIM card.
Mula sa 11.2 million SIM cards – 5,172,061 ang nakarehistro sa Smart Communications Inc.; 5,030,649 sa Globe Telecom Inc.; at 1,017,012 ang rehistradong DITO subscribers.
Alinsunod sa implementing rules and regulations (IRR) ng Republic Act (RA) 11934 o ang “SIM Card Registration Act”, bibigyan ng anim na buwan o 180-days ang mga subscribers na magpa-rehistro simula December 27, 2022 hanggang June 22, 2023.
Pagkatapos ng anim na buwang palugit, pwede ring humingi ng tatlong buwang grace period o extension. Sakaling mapagbigyan, maaaring magpa-rehistro hanggang Oktubre 20, 2023.
Ang mga SIM Card na hindi mairerehistro sa NTC pagkatapos ng itinadhanang iskedyul ng batas ay puputulan ng linya o magiging ‘deactivated’.
