Halos pumalo na sa 600 heneral at colonel ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ang nakapaghain na ng courtesy resignation sa Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) at sa Office of the President.
Ito ang kinumpirma ni PNP chief police General Rodolfo Azurnin Jr. ngayong Lunes, Jan. 9, kasunod ng panawagan na “mass resignation” ni DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos para linisin ang hanay ng Pambansang Kapulisan.
“As of yesterday, we were able to account more or less 500 to close to 600, as reported ng mga different regions. ‘Yung iba dito is enroute na papunta dito sa national headquarters because sila ang magko-collate lahat and then ipapasa ‘yan doon sa five-man committee,” wika ni Azurin sa isang press briefing.
Ayon sa PNP chief, humigit kumulang nasa 450 third level officer pa ang inaasahang maghahain ng courtesy resignation sa mga susunod na araw.
Nilinaw din ni Azurin na lahat ng naghain ng courtesy resignation ay subjected for investigation. Hindi rin umano exempted dito ang mga katulad niyang papa-retiro na.
Muling igin opisyal na wala na silang nakikitang ibang paraan kundi tumalima sa kautusan ng DILG at ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos para matanggal ang agam-agam ng publiko laban sa mga ‘ninja cops’ o mga pulis na sangkot sa drug operations.
“Gaya nga ng sinabi natin, we are talking here of the career of a senior officer ng PNP who worked very hard in the last 30 years or more of their service,” giit ni Azurin.
