Tutol ang grupo ng mga Pinoy nurses sa tila pahaging ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. na bawiin na ang deklarasyon ng state of calamity sa Covid-19 dahil sa pag-kalma ng Covid cases sa bansa.
Sa panayam ng ABS-CBN News, sinuportahan ng grupong Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) ang posisyon ng Department of Health (DOH) na i-extend ang state of calamity sa Covid-19.
Ayon kay PNA national president Melvin Miranda, hindi dapat makampante ang pamahalaan kahit mababa na ang naitatalang Covid cases kada araw.
Iginiit ni Miranda na malaki pa rin ang bilang ng mga aktibong Covid cases kaya hindi dapat tanggalin ang mga pamantayan at health protocols para tuluyang mapuksa ang paglaganap ng sakit.
Sa nakalap na datos ng BITAG Media Digital, (as of Jan. 11, 2023) mayroon pa ring 11,975 active Covid cases sa bansa base sa COVID-19 Tracker ng DOH.
Sinabi ni Miranda na dapat manatili ang state of calamity hangga’t hindi pa naisasabatas ang paglikha ng Center for Disease Control and Prevention sa bansa.
“Seemingly we need to pursue yu’ng extension po sana dahil hindi pa po naisasabatas yung pagsulong ng bill in the creation of the Center of Disease Prevention and Control,” ani Miranda.
Bukod dito, hindi pa rin aniya naibibigay ng buo ang pangako ng DOH na One Covid Allowance o health emergency allowance sa mga health workers.
“Binigyan po kami ng datos ng Department of Health since November, we are still on the 54 percent among the supposedly target po of the 98 pct na dapat as of the November 2022 na target,” giit ni Miranda sa panayam ng ABS-CBN.
