Hindi matutuloy bukas, Enero 13, ang naka-iskedyul na “winner take all” final salvo ng Barangay Ginebra San Miguel at Bay Area Dragons para sa pagtatapos ng 2022-2023 PBA Commissioners’ Cup Finals sa Philippine Arena, Bulacan.
Matapos ang intense na series tie victory ng Bay Area noong Miyerkules ng gabi, nagpasya ang pamunuan ng Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) na kanselahin ang orihinal na schedule ng Game 7.
Dahil sa strong public clamor, inanunsyo ni PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial na gagawin ang do-or-die match ng Ginebra at Bay Area sa Linggo, Enero 15.
Ayon kay Marcial, siguradong mas maraming fans din ang makakapanood ng live sa Philippine Arena dahil naka-iskedyul ang final match sa araw ng pahinga ng maraming Filipino sa Linggo.
“Sa kahilingan ng mga fans, ang Game 7 gagawin natin sa Sunday (Jan. 15) sa Philippine Arena, 5:45 ng hapon. Maraming salamat po sa inyo,” wika ni Marcial.
Bigo ang crowd favorite na Barangay Ginebra na makuha ang kampeonato dahil sa come from behind win ng Bay Area Dragons noong Miyerkules sa iskor na 87-84.
Pinatunayan ng import ng guest team na si Miles Powell ang high caliber na talento sa basketball matapos ipasok ang mga importanteng puntos sa last stretch ng laro para umiskor ng kabuuang 29 big points.
Hindi umubra ang mala-scoring machine performance ng resident import ng Ginebra na si Justin Brownlee na umiskor ng 37 big points dahil katuwang ni Powell ang isa pang bigating shooting guard ng Dragons na si Hayden Blankley na nag-ambag ng 23-points.
