Dahil sa tumataas na kaso ng mga pang-aabuso sa mga overseas Filipino worker sa bansang Kuwait, bubuo na ng safe haven ang bansang Pinas at agaran nang makikipag-ugnayan sa nasabing bansa sa Middle East.
Kamakailan, nakipagpulong na ang Department of Migrant Workers sa mga awtoridad ng Kuwaiti government at agad na ring na-repatriate mg mga tinatayang 400 OFW sa Pilipinas kahapon, Enero 17. Isusunod namang aayusin ang pagpapa-uwi sa mahigit 100 pa nating mga kababayan.
Ayon kay Migrant Workers Undersecretary Hans Cacdac, dismayado raw si Migrant Workers secretary Susan Ople sa isinagawang virtual tour na pinangunahan ng DMW overseas staff ng Migrant Workers and Other Overseas Filipinos Resource Center (MWOFRC), na mas kilala bilang Bahay Kalinga (Haven of Care).
Saad ni Ople mula Davos, Switzerland, “Our Department’s goal is to reduce the number of welfare cases in Kuwait in partnership with the private sector and Kuwaiti government, while bringing home and assisting as many distressed OFWs as possible.”
Ayon kay Cacdac, tinututukan at pinapabilis na nila ang pagsasaayos ng “haven of care” facility para maprotektahan ang mga OFW.
