Determinado ang Tokyo Olympic gold medalist at world champion na si Pinoy Pride Hidilyn Diaz-Naranjo na muli niyang masusungkit ang gintong medalya sa 2024 Paris Olympics.
Mula sa dati niyang weight category na 55 kilograms, umangat sa 59kg division ang weightlifting superstar mula Zamboanga bilang bahagi ng kanyang ginagawang paghahanda.
“Gusto kong tsina-challenge ako,” wika ni Diaz-Naranjo. “I will do my best for the country,” dagdag nito.
Isang abalang taon ang naghihintay para sa Filipino pride kabilang dito ang South East Asian Games na gaganapin sa Cambodia sa Mayo at ang Asian Games na idadaos sa China sa Septyembre.
Bukod dito, inaasahan din na mag eensayo sa ilalim ng international camps si Diaz-Naranjo sa United States at Japan.
Samantala, nagbigay ng kortesiya si Diaz-Naranjo kay Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Richard Bachmann sa Rizal Memorial Sports Complex (RSMC) sa Manila noong Lunes.
“Masaya na na-meet ko si Chairman Bachmann kasi sabi nya nga, ‘he wants to see the athletes, siya yung pupunta mismo sa training camp ng mga athletes,” wika ni Diaz-Naranjo.
“Importante yun sa aming mga atleta na makita ang isang mataas na opisyales na sinusuportahan kami hindi lang financially, but also [giving us] the morale support that we really need. Yung makita naming nandun sya, it gives us inspiration.”
