Surpresang inanunsyo ni New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern ang kanyang intensyon na magbitiw sa posisyon sa susunod na buwan.
Sa isang emosyonal na talumpati, sinabi ng 43 years old Prime Minister na panahon na para siya ay magbitiw na sa pwesto. “I am human. We give as much as we can for as long as we can and then it’s time. And for me, it’s time.”
Nagpasalamat siya sa kanyang mga kababayan na binigyan siya ng pagkakataon na makapag serbisyo sa loob ng anim na taon.
“I’m leaving, because with such a privileged role comes responsibility, The responsibility to know when you are the right person to lead and also when you are not. I know what this job takes. And I know that I no longer have enough in the tank to do it justice. It’s that simple.”
Si Ardern ang naging pinakabatang babaeng lider sa buong mundo noong 2017 sa edad na 37. Ang huling araw niya sa opisina ay sa Pebrero 7.
