Maagang lumagapak sa kartadang 0-1 ang Elasto Painters matapos selyuhan ng Meralco Bolts ang panalo sa iskor na 105-87.
“Feeling ko, rookie ako,” ani Yap. “‘Yung feeling na na-feel ko before, nung 2004: kinakabahan. Di ko alam kung kaya.”
Kumamada si Yap ng 12 points sa first half ng laro kabilang ang isang buzzer beater na three point shot na nagtabla sa laban sa iskor na 54-54.
Subalit tila nahirapan nang makipagsabayan ang Elasto Painters sa mga sumunod na quarter kung saan dalawang puntos na lamang ang naiambag ni Yap hanggang sa matapos ang laro.
Ito ay matapos manghalimaw ni KJ Mcdaniels na bumuga ng 27 points at 23 rebounds para sa Meralco.
Sinundan ito ni Chris Banchero na may 17 points at Allein Maliksi, 16.
Samantala, pinangunahan naman ni Rey Nambatac ang Elasto Painters na may 21 points. 14 na puntos naman ang ambag ni Michael Qualls.
Matatandaang inalok kamakailan ng Elasto Painters ang 40-anyos na si Yap ng isang taong kontrata, pero pinili nitong lumaro lamang ng isang conference dahil sa kanyang obligasyon bilang konsehal ng San Juan City.
“I’m happy na nawelcome ako ng maayos ng fans, so thank you sa kanila at syempre kay Coach Yeng [Guiao], binigyan n’ya ako ng chance uli na makapag laro ng basketball,” wika ni Yap.
