Hindi pabor si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa nangyaring pagtaas ng presyo ng itlog nitong nakaraang linggo dahil sapat naman aniya ang suplay nito sa merkado.
Inutusan ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. si Department of Agriculture (DA) Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban na kausapin ang mga egg producer at trader upang alamin ang dahilan ng pagtaas ng presyo ng itlog.
Nais din malaman ng pangulo ang mga hakbang upang manatiling abot-kaya ang presyo ng itlog.
“We determined that the price of eggs is not commensurate to the increase in production cost so we will have to have a look to see how to control that because we cannot explain almost one-half of the profit margin that we are seeing. We cannot attribute it to cost,” ayon sa Pangulo.
Sa price watch ng DA, nasa P9 na ang presyo ng medium-sized egg bawat isa kumpara sa P6.90 noon lamang Disyembre 2022.
Dapat aniya na nasa P7 hanggang P7.50 ang presyo ng bawat itlog.
