Matapos ang matagumpay na kampanya noong nakaraang taon, susubukan namang puntiryahin ng Philippine women’s national football team ang gintong medalya sa South East Asian Games na gaganapin sa Cambodia sa Mayo.
Ayon kay Philippine Football Federation (PFF) General Secretary Atty. Ed Gastanes, determinado ang national football team na mag uwi ng panibagong karangalan sa bansa sa pangunguna ng kanilang coach na si Alen Stajcic.
“There’s a very real chance right now for our women’s team [to win the gold medal in the SEA Games]. Anything is possible with our kind of preparation and the coaching staff [that we have],” ani Atty. Gastanes sa Philippine Sportswriter Forum kahapon, Jan. 24.
Una munang maglalaro ang Filipinas sa isang torneyo kung saan makakatunggali nila ang bansang Wales, Scotland at Iceland sa Pinatar Cup na gaganapin sa Spain sa Pebrero.
Susundan ito ng Olympic Qualifiers sa Abril kung saan kahanay ng PH national team sa Group E ang mga bansang Hongkong, Pakistan at Tajikistan.
Sa Hulyo, sasabak naman ang Filipinas sa kanilang pinakamalaking dwelo para sa 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup na gaganapin sa New Zealand.
Nakahanay din ngayong taon sa kanilang kalendaryo ang 19th Asian Games na gaganapin sa China sa Septyembre, at ang AFF Women’s Championship kung saan nakatakdang depensahan ng Filipinas ang kanilang kampyeonato.
