Sinabi ito ng kalihim sa press briefing sa Malacañang kahapon, January 24, matapos maglabas ng pahayag si Pangulong Bongbong Marcos at itinanggi nya ang isyu ng privatization.
“What the president meant was that we will not give the Naia assets to the private sector. What he meant was that it’s the private sector that will manage the operations through a concession agreement, which is what we have been doing at two airports now — Cebu and Clark.”
Kasalukuyan, nakikipagtulungan na daw ang DOTr sa Asian Development Bank (ADB) para sa paghahanda ng privatization ng dalawang bahagi ng operasyon ng NAIA.
Ayon kay Bautista, simula noong Setyembre 2022, dalawang kumpanya na ang kanilang kinakausap upang gawing moderno at mapalawak ang NAIA.
