Inobliga ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang lahat ng mga importer, trader at mga magsasaka na dumalo sa isang pagpupulong sa darating na Lunes, Enero 30 tungkol sa mataas pa rin na bentahan ng sibuyas sa bansa.
Ayon kay Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cheloy Garafil mismong ang pangulo ang magpi-preside sa meeting. Sa price monitoring ng DA, ibinebenta sa halagang P180 hanggang P200 kada kilo ang sibuyas sa merkado sa kabila ng pagdating ng mga imported onion.
“The President has ordered a stakeholders’ meeting on Monday with importers, traders, retailers and farmers to discuss the price since DA (Department of Agriculture) price monitoring team saw imported onions being sold at Php 180 – 200 per kg.,” ayon kay Garafil.
Ayon sa Bureau of Plant Industry, nakarating na sa bansa ang unang batch o ang 21,060 metric tons na imported onions. Sa muling pagdami ng supply ng sibuyas, inaasahan na na bababa ang presyo sa mga pamilihan.
Matatandaang kamakailan ay inapubrahan ng pangulo ang nasabing importasyon upang tugunan ang kakulangan sa supply gayundin ang pagtaas ng presyo ng sibuyas sa mga pamilihan.
Bukod dito, sinabi rin ni Marcos na maglulunsad ng programa ang gobyerno para sa mga lokal na magsasaka ng sibuyas upang maparami ang kanilang ani.
