Hindi na maglalaro para sa bansa ang Filipino volleybal player na si Jaja Santiago dahil nasa kalagitnaan na ito ng proseso ng kanyang Japanese citizenship.
Ito ay ibinunyag ng Philippine women’s national team head coach Jorge Souza nang tanungin kung sasabak si Santiago sa 32nd South East Asian Games na gaganapin sa Cambodia sa Mayo.
“I don’t think she can play for our national team. When she finishes the process there in Japan, she can play for the national team for Japan,” ani Souza sa isang press briefing ng PVL All-Filipino noong sabado, Jan. 28.
Ayon sa Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), ang isang manlalaro ay maaring lumipat ng pederasyon ng ibang bansa sa iilang mga kondisyon.
“A player must do so if one has established residence in the country of her new Federation of Origin for a minimum of two continuous years, the player has obtained the nationality of the country of the new Federation, and the player’s old and new Federation agrees to the change.”
