Kalahating milyong Pilipino ang maaaring magkaroon ng trabaho matapos makakuha ng investment commitment ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. sa ride-hailing service na Grab.
Ayon sa Presidential Communications Office (PCOO), nakipagpulong si Marcos sa mga opisyales ng Grab Holdings Inc. kahapon, Feb. 2 para pag usapan ang rekomendasyon ng Grab sa mga posibleng paraan upang gawing moderno ang transportasyon sa Pilipinas.
Nangako kay Marcos sa nasabing pagpupulong ang Grab CEO at co-founder na si Anthony Tan na makakalikha umano ng 500,000 na trabaho ang kanyang kumpanya sa bansa.
Sinabi ni Tan sa Pangulo na nagtatala ang Grab ng apat hanggang limang milyong biyahe kada araw.
“Well, that is what we need. At the very start of all of this, we had always stressed that what we have to do is create jobs right now. Because so many businesses closed, so many people really have no place to go, even the OFWs. So… we need to find jobs,” ani Marcos kay Tan.
Ayon kay Marcos, humigit-kumulang sa 2 milyong trabaho ang nalikha ng kanyang administrasyon magmula noon na nagresulta sa pagbaba ng unemployment rate sa bansa.
“That’s why I’m in a hurry. If we can roll this out as quickly as possible. And I know the way Grab moves, they move very, very quickly. Because you’ve done it so many times before. In the scale, you don’t have to scale it. You’ve scaled it already,” wika ng Pangulo.
