Sa torneyo na binubuo ng 11 manlalaro, matagumpay na nalundagan ng 27-anyos na si Obiena ang 5.77 meters upang tumuntong sa unang puwesto.
Pumangalawa sakanya ang two-time world champion na si Sam Kendricks ng Amerika na nakapagtala ng 5.70m clearance habang iniuwi naman ni Piotr Lisek ang bronze.
“Happy to win the gold here today in Lods. It was a difficult battle, both physically and mentally,” ani Obiena sa kanyang social media post.
Ito ang ikaapat na pagkakataon na nagtapos sa podium si Obiena sa kanyang kampanya sa indoor season ngayon taon.
Unang siyang nagwagi ng silver sa Internationales Springer-Meeting sa Germany noong Jan. 26. Sinundan ito ng kanyang unang gintong medalya sa Perche En Or sa France, at bronze naman sa Mondo Classic sa Sweden kamakailan.
Nakatakdang lumaro muli si Obiena sa Orlen Copernicus Cup sa Miyerkules, Feb 8 na gaganapin sa Torun Arena Sports Hall sa Torun, Poland.
“Now we rest and recover for the Copernicus Cup. Traveling from Sweden to Poland was not easy at all.”
