Darating ngayong araw, Pebrero 6 ang expertong kinatawan ng United Nations upang pamunuan ang pagsasanay sa forensic pathology sa Pilipinas.
Si Dr. Morris Tidball-Binz ay Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial Summary or Arbitrary Executions at isa ring kilalang forensic pathologist na inimbitahan ni Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla bilang bahagi ng capacity building nito sa ilalim ng United Nations Joint Program (UNJP).
“He is coming in his capacity as an expert in the field to help capacitate our current doctors. We need more capable doctors in our country to assist our law enforcement agencies in their work,” pahayag ni Remulla.
Nilinaw at binigyang-diin naman ni Remulla na ang pagdating ni Dr. Tidball-Binz ay hindi bilang isang Special Rapporteur ngunit bilang isang eksperto sa larangan ng forensic pathology upang hasain ang mga kasalukuyang doktor sa bansa.
Sa kasalukuyan dalawa lang ang lehitimo at internationally-accepted na forensic pathologists sa Pilipinas dahil ang iba ay pawang medico-legal experts, ayon kay Remulla.
Capacity-building para sa mga kalamidad ang isa sa mga layunin ng ipag-imbita sa dayuhang eksperto at inihalimbawa mg kalihim ang nangyari noong bagyong Yolanda kung saan kailangang iproseso ang libu-libong mga bangkay ng mga biktima.
Inaasahang makikipagpulong si Tidball-Binz kina Justice Secretary Remulla, Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Director-General Moro Virgilio Lazo, Philippine National Police Chief Rodolfo Azurin, gayundin ang National Bureau of Investigation Director Medardo De Lemos.
