Boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. at age 54, will once again step inside the ring to face former UFC lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis on April 1 at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, USA.
The bout between Jones and Pettis will be the main event in the Gamebred Boxing 4 promoted by UFC welterweight fighter Jorge Masvidal.
“Roy Jones Jr will be fighting Anthony Pettis on Saturday, April 1st, 2023 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the Fiserv Forum on Gamebred Boxing 4. Tickets go on sale at noon on February 17th,” Gamebred Boxing announced.
Jones was a former four-division champion having won world titles in the middleweight, super-middleweight, light heavyweight, and heavyweight divisions.
He has a career record of 66 wins, 9 losses, and 47 knockouts. His last professional fight was against Scott Sigmon in 2018 where he won via unanimous decision.
Jones last stepped inside the ring in an exhibition match with Mike Tyson in November 2020 where the two ended in a draw.
Meanwhile, the 36-year-old Pettis has no background in professional boxing. He has an MMA record of 25-14 and is coming off a back-to-back defeat to Steven Ray in June and August 2022.
Jones and Pettis will square off in an eight-round professional boxing match which will stream in a pay-per-view via UFC pass.
