Umabot na sa 64 pamilyang Pilipino ang nasa pangangalaga ngayon ng Philippine Embassy sa Ankara matapos yanigin ng 7.8 magnitude na lindol ang Turkey at Syria noong nakaraang linggo, ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) kahapon, Peb. 13.
Patuloy naman ang paghahanap sa nawawalang Filipina at kanyang mga anak na pinaniniwalaang natabunan ng mga gumuhong gusali.
“The Embassy has sought the assistance of search-and-rescue teams in Hatay City on the status of a missing Filipino and their children, feared to be still under rubble,” pahayag ng Embassy noong linggo.
“This has been confirmed by her husband and sister-in-law, both Turkish nationals,” dagdag nito.
Kahapon, pumalo na sa 36,000 ang mga nasawi sa lindol kabilang ang dalawang pinoy ayon sa Philippine Embassy in Ankara.
Samantala, nagpaabot ng kanyang pasasalamat si Turkish Ambassador to the Philippines Niyazi Evren Akyol matapos ang sunod-sunod na tulong at suporta na ipinaabot ng gobyerno sa Turkiye.
“You know in an event like this, it’s very good to know you have your friends on your side,” wika ni Akyol.
“And we have on the ground almost 10,400 rescue workers and of course the Philippines is one of the major contributors. On that note I would like to express my government and my personal heartfelt gratitude to President Marcos, Jr. for his leadership, for his swift instruction for Philippine authorities to get into action,” dagdag nito.
