Upang huwag mabitag ng mga “loan sharks”, makikipag-ugnayan si Vice President at Education Secretary Sara Duterte sa mga abogado at mga posibleng partners upang mabigyan ng libreng payo at konsultasyon ang mga guro pagdating sa mga kontrata na may kinalaman sa pangungutang.
Ito ang sinabi ni Duterte sa kanyang pagbisita sa 28th Founding Anniversary at 4th Bodong Festival sa Kalinga Astrodome, Tabuk City, Kalinga.
Mahalaga na naiintindihan ng mga guro ang mga kontratang pinipirmahan nila at sa tulong ng mga abogado, mabibigyan sila ng gabay sa mga alituntunin ng isang pautang bago sila manghiram ng pera.
“Mayroon kaming kinakausap na mga grupo ng abogado na kung pwede ay tulungan nila kami na mabigyan ng free legal advice ang ating mga guro bago sila pumirma ng kontrata ng loan obligation o utang,” ayon sa pangawalang Pangulo.
Sinabi din ni Duterte na nakipag-ugnayan na sila sa Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) hinggil sa mga utang ng mga guro.
Simula noong 2019, mayroong P157.4 billion na outstanding loans at accrued interest ang mga teaching and non-teaching personnel sa GSIS.
Samantala, nakipag-ugnayan na din ang DepEd sa Department of Health upang mabigyan ang mga empleyado ng libreng health check up.
Ayon sa bise presidente, kasalukuyan nang ina-update ng Kongreso at Senado ang Magna Carta for Public School Teachers.
