Private vehicle owners can now renew their registration as the Land Transportation Office (LTO) launched their portal last February 14.
In line with the LTO’s efforts to digitize its operations, the agency believes that the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) portal will fasten transactions in all district offices and shun the use of fixers.
“Ngayong araw po na ito, nilulunsad po natin ang ating online renewal for private motor vehicles registration,” LTO Chief Jose Arturo “Jay Art” Tugade said during the event.
“I am happy to announce that we are taking one step forward towards fully digitalizing our agency… to make the transactions of the people with LTO easier, simpler, and more convenient,” the transportation chief added.
Tugade then explained that before conducting the online renewal, the owner should secure a Certificate of Coverage (COC) or insurance of their choice, and that the vehicle must be brought to the Private Motor Vehicle Inspection Center (PMVIC) and checked for road worthiness. Currently, there are 101 PMVICs around the country.
Once the COC has been secured, the private vehicle owner can then log in at the LTMS portal. Renewal rates will remain the same. For motorcycles a fee of P240, P300 for motorcycles with sidecars and, P1,600 to P8,000 for cars depending on gross weight and car type.
However, the LTO clarified that the process is not mandatory. Private vehicle owners can still go to LTO district offices if they preferred to do it in person.
The LTO aims to fully digitize all other transactions through the LTMS portal by August 30 this year.
