Isang 13-anyos na dalagita ang naitala bilang pinakabatang ina sa Bontoc, Mountain Province, ayon sa lokal na pamahalaan.
“The youngest mother at the age of 13 years old has been registered in 2022,” saad ng Bontoc LGU sa kanilang Facebook post noong Biyernes.
Mas bata kumpara sa naunang 16-taong gulang na ina na naitala ng probinsya.
Ayon sa Municipal Civil Registry Office ng Bontoc, tumaas ang bilang ng mga maagang nagbubuntis noong 2022 matapos nitong magtala ng 39 kaso ng teenage pregnancies mula sa 767 na nanganak sa kanilang munisipalidad. Sa paglalagom, tumaas ng 39.38 percent kumpara sa dating datus ng Munisipyo noong 2021 na dalawampu’t walo (28).
Mula sa naitalang 39 na bilang ng teenage pregnancies noong 2022, 17 ay nagmula sa Bontoc habang 22 naman ang nanggaling sa kalapit na mga probinsya na nanganak at nagparehistro sa munisipyo.
“With the alarming data presented, Bontoc Mayor Jerome ‘Chagsen’ Tudlong Jr., solicited the support of the public to help lessen the number of teenage pregnancies as it could cause adverse effects on the health of both the mother and her baby,” saad ng LGU.
Samantala sa kabila nito, bumaba naman sa 5.4% ang bilang ng teenage pregnancy (edad 15-19) sa bansa mula sa dating 8.6 percent noong 2017, ayon sa huling datus na inilabas ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) nitong Enero.
