Hindi nagdulot ng malaking pinsala ang 6.0 magnitude na lindol na yumanig sa probinsya ng Masbate kaninang alas dos ng madaling araw, ayon sa City of Masbate Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CMDRRMO).
Ayon sa Facebook post ng CMDRRMO, maliliit na mga bitak lamang ang tinamo ng ilang mga gusali at imprastraktura sa kanilang isinagawang pag iinspeksyon matapos ang lindol.
Gayunpaman, pinayuhan ng tanggapan ang mga residente na maging maingat at alerto dahil sa mga aftershocks na patuloy na yumayanig sa lalawigan.
Samantala, nawalan naman ng kuryente sa Masbate at isla ng Ticao habang kinansela rin ang lahat ng klase at opisina sa buong probinsya, ayon sa Office of Civil Defense (OCD).
Inilikas naman sa labas ang mga pasyente ng Masbate Provincial Hospital kung saan wala namang naiulat na nasaktan.
Pinaalalahan ng OCD ang publiko na isagawa ang “duck, cover, and hold” protocol upang protektahan ang sarili sa oras ng lindol.
Ayon sa Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), namataan ang sentro ng lindol 11 kilometro mula sa timog kanlurang bahagi ng Batuan na may lalim na 10 kilometro.
Samantala, sinuspinde na ng lokal na pamahalaan ang pasok sa mga opisina at klase sa eskwelahan para magbigay daan sa monitoring at inspection sa mga gusali at istruktura sa lungsod.
“To ensure the safety of everyone, classes in all levels both public and private as well as government works are hereby suspended today, February 16, 2023 at the City of Masbate,” base sa memorandum mula sa tanggapan ni Mayor Socrates Tuason.
