Isa isa nang inilalantad ang mga opisyal ng Department of Agriculture (DA) at Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) na umano’y sangkot sa kartel ng sibuyas.
Reaksyon ito ni Agriculture Assistant Secretary and deputy spokesman Rex Estoperez matapos ang pagbubunyag ng Chairman ng Bonena Multipurpose Cooperative na si Israel Reguyal sa isinagawang Senate hearing nitong mga nakaraang araw.
Sa testimonya ni Reguyal, nagngagalang Lilia Leah Cruz na tinagurian ding “Mrs. Sibuyas” ang nag-iipit ng mga suplay ng sibuyas sa pakikipagsabwatan na rin ng ilang mga opisyal ng DA at BPI.
“The President (Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr.) does not tolerate that. That’s the reason why he chose to remain at the DA, to solve that and to fire those involved (in illegal activities),” sinabi ni Estoperez sa isang interview.
Dagdag pa ni Estopeerz, seryoso ang Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos na linisin at tanggalin ang mga kurap sa ahensyang pinamumunuan nito bilang kalihim.
“We will not discriminate whether they are part of the present administration or officials from the previous administration. If there is evidence, they should be charged. If there is a need to remove them, we will do so,” ayon kay Estoperez.
Ayon sa Asec at Deputy Spokesman ng ahensya, magsasagawa sila ng malalimang imbestigasyon hinggil sa isyu at ipapatupad ang mga kaukulang batas.
Matatandaan na noong Martes, Pebrero 14, isiniwalat ni Reguyal ang modus ni “Mrs. Sibuyas” at ang anomalya sa DA. Humiling din ng closed door executive session sa mga mambabatas si Reguyal sa pagpapaptloy ng kaniyang testimonya.
Samantala, naninindigan naman si Cruz na hindi sya sangkot sa onion smuggling at hoarding at hindi nya rin tanggap na tagurian siyang “Mrs. Sibuyas.”
