Tinanggalan na ng accreditation ng Department of Education (DepEd) ang Manila Teachers’ Savings and Loan Association Inc. (MTSLAI) matapos bawiin ng Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) ang lisensya nito.
Ang MTSLAI ay isang lending company na nagpapautang sa mga guro at empleyado ng DepEd.
Nitong Disyembre, tinanggalan ng lisensya ng BSP ang MTSLAI dahil hindi aniya kwalipikado ang MTSLAI para sa automatic payroll deduction system (APDS) ng DepEd, kung saan direktang ibinabawas ang utang mula sa suweldo ng mga guro.
Sinabi ni Vice President at DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte na sa ilalim ng mutual aid system membership ng MTSLAI, ang collection ng payroll deductions ay mula noong Nobyembre 25 at magpapatuloy hanggang sa susunod na tatlong buwan o hanggang sa humiling ang isang empleyado na itigil ito.
“The collection of deductions for these existing loans in the APDS for MTSLAI… shall continue up to the termination dates reflected in the payslip and until fully paid.”
Maaari pa rin aniya na ipagpatuloy ng MTSLAI ang mga pautang o kontrata nito sa mga guro at empleyado ng DepEd sa pamamagitan ng direktang pagkolekta sa kanila, ngunit hindi na sa ilalim ng APDS.
