Nagpahayag ng suporta at paninindigan ang ilang senador hinggil sa isasagawang pagbubukas muli ng imbestigasyon ng International Criminal Court (ICC) laban kay dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
Ayon kina Senator Jinggoy Estrada, Robinhood Padilla, at Francis Tolentino “disrespectful” o kawalang paggalang ng International Criminal Court ito sa Pilipinas dahil “fully capable judicial system” naman ang bansa natin.
Inihain ni Estrada ang Senate Resolution (SR) no. 488 habang SR no. 492 naman ang inihain ni Padilla.
Sa resolusyon ni Padilla, naniniwala siya na ang drug problem sa bansa ay matinding banta sa lipunan na kailangan labanan.
Sinabi naman ni Estrada na nagsasagawa na ng imbestigasyon sa mga isinagwang drug war operation ang Department of Justice (DOJ) at ang Philippine National Police Internal Affairs Service (PNP-IAS) para sampahan ng apat na kasong kriminal ang mga abusadong pulis.
“This clearly shows the commitment of our government in ensuring that erring individuals will be brought to justice,” paliwanag ng senador.
Magbibigay naman daw ng komento si Tolentino tungkol sa usaping ito kapag nakausap na nila ang European Parliament subcommittee on human rights delegation ngayong linggo.
Nakatakdang humarap sa nasabing delegasyon sina Senator Tolentino, Padilla, at Senator Loren Legarda, Ronald dela Rosa, at Aquilino Pimentel III.
