Binalik ng Magnolia sa losing column ang Rain or Shine ng tambakan nila ito 112-97 para umangat sa standing ng Philippine Basketball Association o PBA na ginanap kahapon, February 22 sa Philsports Arena.
Unang quarter pa lang ay gigil na ang koponan ni Coach Chito Victolero (magnolia) kung saan ay naging matagumpay ang kanilang opensiba. Naidala nila ang kanilang momentum hanggang fourth quarter na malayo ang score sa kanilang katunggali na Rain or Shine.
Nanguna para sa opensiba ng Magnolia ang kanilang 3 main point guard na sina Gio Jalalon, Paul Lee, at MARK Barroca na nag-ambag nang tig 19 points.
Samantalang nanguna naman sa Rain or Shine ang kanilang foreign import na si Greg Smith na gumawa ng 15 points habang nakapag-bigay din si Santi Santillan ng 14 points.
Nagsimula ang kampanya ng Magnolia Hotshots sa torneyo ng PBA na 0-3 ang standing.
“It’s a big help also (early losses). We just want to stay positive sa mga nangyari sa amin in the start and it’s a lesson na we need to handle it positively and yung mga mistake namin duon matuto kami,” saad ni Coach Victolero.
Dahil naman sa pagkatalo ng Rain or Shine ay naputol ang kanilang 2 game winstreak at bumagsak sa kanilang standing sa eight spot na may record na 2 wins and 5 losses.
